Digital era nears for Palace; 'Juliet' to be last 35-mm film there

Erin Horst is directing the summer camp, as students bring U.S. history to Palace stage. We’re counting down the days at the Palace Theatre!  One final 35 mm movie and then we not only enter the digital age, but also become the only theatre in the world with $3 3D!  I haven’t actually researched the last bit of that statement, but I’m pretty confident I’m correct in that assertion!  Donations are still coming in from near and far.

'Robin Hood' next at Palace screen; digital progress continues

Staff and volunteers at the Palace Theatre were excited to receive the first five cases of RealD 3D glasses last Friday.  It’s getting closer! Remember, following “Robin Hood” this week and “Letters from Juliet” next, the Palace will close June 25 through July 1 for our digital installation.  Our fundraising effort stands at more than $60K pledged.

'Iron Man 2' brings Downey back to Palace screen

Summer has officially arrived!  I’m enjoying my first sun burn, a rash of bug bites, and on Friday the kids wrap up the 2009-2010 school year and “Iron Man 2” opens on the Palace big screen. Love, love, love Robert Downey Jr.!  And Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, and Mickey Rouke – I just can’t wait!  It sounds like the story line is basically the same as the first movie, and I’ve heard comments both ways – some like one better, some prefer two.
