Thank you Rachael Larkin, for transporting our print of “Date Night” from Story City, IA! Yep, that’s right, despite the shortage of available 35 mm prints – “Date Night” is on!

BUT FIRST…. be sure to reserve your seats for ACT I’s “Bus Stop” which plays the Palace Friday and Saturday, May 14 & 15 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, May 16 at 2 p.m. Directed by Jill G. Bopp, assisted by Bunny Fritch, and starring ACT I veterans Mikala Niemeier, Halane Cummings, Casey Cooling , Rachel Kramer, Anthony Bopp, David Gates, Alex Vaqsquez, and Rick Primmer, “Bus Stop” tells the story of several men and women stranded at a roadside café during a snow storm.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.act1.org, or at the door.

After the stage show on Sunday, May 16, the set will be pushed back and the big screen lowered to make way for Steve Carell and Tina Fey in the box office hit, “Date Night.”

Rated PG-13 for sexual and crude content throughout, language, some violence and a drug reference, this film definitely has date night potential. Leave your impressionable youth at home and come have a light-hearted evening at the Palace.

This movie plays the Palace just four nights (Monday through Thursday) and one Monday matinee, and you really don’t want to miss the fun and laughs in store. “Date Night” runs only 88 minutes! The sun will probably still be shining after the show!

DIGITAL UPDATE

We are HALFWAY THERE – much closer to reaching our fundraising goal for our Digital Cinema Upgrade! Enormous thanks to all those who’ve donated!

BUSINESSES, more than 50% of our patrons come from outside of Vinton. Make a contribution of $100 or more and we will advertise your business name on the big screen for one hour before the movie. Those who give $1,000 or more will be included in a preshow Spotlight Video that will run at 7 p.m. before every 3D movie for one year.

LOTS OF POSTERS have flown out the door, including two “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “Astro Boy,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “The Princess and the Frog,” “Shrek,” “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” “Mamma Mia,” and more! We have posters dating back 10 years that can be yours for a $100 contribution. Your generosity will not only decorate your family room or child’s bedroom wall, but help us preserve the future of movies at the Palace for generations!

SPREAD THE WORD! I heard from one frequent patron that he forwarded his Palace weekly newsletter to faraway friends and relatives who often enjoy movies at the Palace over the holidays and want to donate to the cause. Good news – you can now make your donation using a Paypal button on our website, www.vintonpalace.org. Just click on the Digital Cinema button at the top of the home page.

The Palace Theatre has TENTATIVELY set our digital installation date for the week of June 25 through July 1. IF the funds continue to come in!

Frank the Booker was thrilled when I emailed him with the latest update and potential calendar dates for digital cinema at the Palace. Nobody likes last minute schedule changes – not Frank, not me, not the volunteers and staff, and especially not our patrons. Please give generously to our Summer 2010 Digital Cinema Drive!
