ACT I presents “Bus Stop” one more weekend, taking the stage Friday, May 21 and Saturday, May 22 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, May 23 at 2 p.m. Attendance has been stellar for this show, and lobby talk very enthusiastic! Spend a couple of hours in the 1950s at a bus stop diner in a snowstorm! You can purchase your tickets online at www.act1.org, or get your seats at the door. (Here’s an inside tip – if you hang around talking to the actors after Grace’s Diner closes for the night, the stage manager will probably offer you a lovely slice of chocolate pie, with real meringue!)

On Sunday, May 23, if you’re not attending a gross of graduation parties like me, “Clash of the Titans” opens on the big screen at 7 p.m. Rated PG-13 for fantasy action, violence, some frightening images and brief sensuality, and running 108 minutes, this movie plays Sunday through Thursday at 7 p.m., and Monday at 2 p.m.

Dust off your knowledge of Greek mythology. Liam Neeson plays Zeus, and Sam Worthington his human son, Perseus, in this exciting tale chronicling the struggle between the gods and the humans.

After three weeks of chick flicks, this film should bring a welcome reprieve to the men in our audience. Sorry, ladies, no free pop. You’ve got Liam Neeson to make you happy.

JUNE SCHEDULE

Our June calendar is currently in production. Check the website in a few days or pick up a hard copy at the theatre. Here’s what you’ll find: “Iron Man 2,” “Robin Hood” and “Letters to Juliet.”

We are TENTATIVELY scheduled to be closed from Friday, June 26 through Thursday, July 1 to install our brand new digital cinema system. I say tentatively, because though we are now more than halfway to our fundraising goal of $80,000, we still need your help!

Thanks so much to all those donors who have given so generously to our campaign, and thanks in advance to those of you still planning to write a check. Contributions may be dropped off at the Palace Theatre box office, mailed to the theatre at 210 West 4thStreet, Vinton, IA 52349, OR use our PayPal link on the Palace website Digital Cinema page at www.vintonpalace.org.
