The Vinton-Shellsburg Home School Assistance Program students will perform the play, “Anne of Green Gables,” beginning Friday, May 14.

The play, based on the book that later became a television series, focuses on a red-haired Canadian girl, Anne Shirley, and the lessons she learns while growing into adulthood on Prince Edward Island.

Melissa Underwood stars as Anne. Ryan Wallace plays the role of Gilbert, the boy who antagonizes Anne while gaining her affection.

Play times are 7 p.m. Friday, May 14 (tonight) and 3 p.m. Sunday, May 16. The public is welcome.
