Click to view photosThe Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes picked up a win and a pair of losses Thursday night in a rare home quadrangular.The Vikettes (9-7 on the season) downed  Oelwein in the first round with 25-22, 25-6 sweep of the Huskies, then dropped back to back 0-2 decisions to WaMaC East foes Solon and Class 2A third-ranked Dyersville Beckman.

The Vinton-Shellsburg volleyball team went 3-2 and finished third at Saturday’s Vikette Invitational at the Garrison Fieldhouse.The Vikettes (now 8-5 overall) opened straight set wins over Iowa Valley (21-15, 21-19), Belle Plaine (21-9, 25-23) and Nashua-Plainfield (21-5, 21-19) before dropping in 2-0 matches to West Delaware (11-21, 11-21) and Janesville (20-22, 21-23) to close out the day.
