A late defensive stop and later touchdown were the difference Friday night as Oelwein came from behind to take out the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings, 21-14.

VSU had a great meet in Waterloo Saturday! In a field of 5 teams, VSU took 2nd - edging out Waterloo who had previously beaten us. ResultsVSU posted lots of strong times: 18 individual time drops, with many again being all-time personal bests.

VIKETTES GO 1-2 AT HOME QUAD

VIKETTES 3rd AT INVITATIONAL

The Vinton-Shellsburg volleyball team went 3-2 and finished third at Saturday’s Vikette Invitational at the Garrison Fieldhouse.The Vikettes (now 8-5 overall) opened straight set wins over Iowa Valley (21-15, 21-19), Belle Plaine (21-9, 25-23) and Nashua-Plainfield (21-5, 21-19) before dropping in 2-0 matches to West Delaware (11-21, 11-21) and Janesville (20-22, 21-23) to close out the day.

VIKING GRIDDERS TAME TIGERS, 36-22

Junior Brooks Erickson threw for three TDs, ran for another and had a key interception to lead the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings to a 36-22 football victory over Tipton Friday night at the Karr Athletic ComplexErickson threw his first TD on the first drive of the game on a short toss to senior Sam Griffith, and before the end first quarter he threw his second of the game, this time to CJ Rickels and the Vikes had a 13-0 lead.
