WILLIAMSBURG — The Vinton-Shellsburg cross-country teams continued to show improvement Tuesday at the Williamsburg Invitational.

The boys’ team finished 5th overall, paced by the Vikings’ lone senior, Cameron Karr. Karr ran a 5K time of 18:31.9 which was good for eighth place in the meet. Phillip Kalina was 23rd in 19:40.3, with freshman Elijah Blix coming in with a time of 20:03.5.

The young Vikettes ended up ninth in the team race. Freshman Molly Haisman led the way for Vinton-Shellsburg with a time of 25:04.9. Charlee Johnson was close behind in 35th with a 25.11.1 while Sophia Dilley was 37th in 25:15.7.

The Vinton-Shellsburg cross-country team will be back in action next Tuesday at Grinnell.
