New date for IMCA Hawkeye Dirt Tour opener is May 19

VINTON, Iowa (May 12) – Opening night for the Hawkeye Dirt Tour at Benton County Speedway has now been rescheduled for next Tuesday, May 19. The IMCA Xtreme Motorsports Modified feature at Vinton pays $1,000 to win, a minimum of $150 to start and is a qualifier for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.

Vikettes sixth in Wamac Super Golf Meet

The Vinton-Shellsburg girls golf team improved from previous years, and finished sixth in the 15-team Wamac Super Meet Monday at the Amana Colonies Golf Course.

VS 8th grade boys continue win streak at Little Viking Invitational

Nolan Haisman set a new school record in the 1600M, breaking the 5-minute mark with a time of 4:58.97; Axl Hoepner threw the discus well enough (137 feet, 11 inches) to have placed second in the most recent high school track meet; he also won the shot put and finished a close second in the 100M dash.

Hawkeye Dirt Tour comes to Vinton, May 12

The home track of the IMCA Modified division hosts the first event of the 2015 Hawkeye Dirt Tour next Tuesday, May 12. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds following the sixth annual series race for $1,000 to win and a minimum of $150 to start the lidlifter at Benton County Speedway.
