Seussical the Musical opens tonight at VSHS

Younger actors join VSHS performers for 'Seussical the Musical' this weekend "A person's a person, no matter how small!"   Some of the cast and crew of "Seussical the Musical" interrupted set work on Sunday afternoon to pick up their Seussical tees.   This year the HS players are excited to welcome more than 20 talented middle schoolers and four Tilford students as Whos, a young kangaroo, a baby elephant bird, and two Things.

“Captain Phillips” takes command of the Palace Friday, November 1 through Thursday, November 7. Rated PG-13 for some intense scenes, this true story runs 136 minutes. Showtimes are 7 pm each night Friday through Thursday, with a 2 pm matinee on Monday. Two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks is Captain Richard Phillips in this true life story of the US cargo vessel that was hijacked by Somali pirates in 2009.

'American Daredevils:' Real people who love their country and their hobby

The makers of “Saw” and “Paranormal Activity” team up to bring you what’s sure to be a Halloween classic.

“Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2” hits the screen at the Palace running Friday through Thursday. This film is rated PG and runs 95 minutes in RealD 3D! Showtimes are 7 pm each night Friday through Thursday, 4 pm Saturday and Sunday, 2 pm on Monday. According to the Palace website, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 picks up where Sony Pictures Animation's hit comedy left off.

In Depth: 'The Way, Way Back'

Starting Friday, the Palace Theatre offers up “The Way, Way Back”. This film is rated PG-13 for language and innuendo, and runs 1:43. Showtimes are 7 pm each night Friday through Thursday, and of course, the 2pm matinee on Monday. According to the Palace website, “The Way, Way Back” is the funny and poignant coming-of-age story of 14-year-old Duncan's (Liam James) summer vacation with his mother, Pam (Toni Collette), her overbearing boyfriend, Trent (Steve Carell), and his daughter Steph (Zoe Levin).

This week the Palace Theatre offers up “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.” This film is rated PG for violence and mild language, and runs 1:46 minutes. Showtimes are 7pm each night Friday through Thursday, and of course, the 2 pm matinee on Monday. “Sea of Monsters” is the second film adaptation of the “Percy Jackson” Action/Adventure book series.

Dr Danger: TV show daredevil hurt before Vinton show hopes to return to Iowa

The daredevil who was in the hospital while his team performed at the Benton County fair says he hopes to return to Iowa to show everyone he is OK. Greg Carpenter, aka Dr Danger, suffered a broken back when he performed his most recent stunt – jumping an ambulance into a vertical semi trailer at the Jackson County Fair in Maquoketa. “I want to come back so I can show all of those people I am fine,” said Carpenter.

“The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones,” rated PG-13, runs 130 minutes. Catch it at the Palace Friday, September 27 through Thursday, October 3 at 7 pm every night but Tuesday, and Monday, September 30 at 2 pm. The Palace will be closed on Tuesday, October 1 for a thorough fall cleaning.
