Brad Pitt in “World War Z” storms the Palace Friday, August 16 through Thursday, August 22 at 7 pm, and Monday, August 19 at 2 pm.
This 3D representation of the zombie apocalypse is rated PG-13 and runs two hours. “World War Z” covers almost everything – drama, action, adventure, sci-fi, fantasy, and horror. Rottentomatoes.com gives this thriller a solid positive rating from the critics, with audience reviews coming in about eight percentage points higher.
The trailer, which showed no zombies but lots of Brad Pitt, piqued my interest. Yes, I’m a Pitt fan, but I’m also a closet zombie lover and admit I want to see what they look like and witness the awful animated corpse destruction for myself.
Carried by Pitt's performance, "World War Z" is a sometimes intense story of the rise of the undead. -- Michael A. Smith, MediaMikes
Pitt's soulful performance lends World War Z real heart and strength. -- Jay Antani, Cinema Writer
Brad Pitt is a sure bet, but my favorite review below should cinch it for you.
A roaring good, bloody block party with The Undead. Jay Schembri, 3AW
Everybody loves a good, bloody block party, and if you want to come to the show dressed as your favorite zombie on Friday or Saturday night, Tony could probably be convinced to take your picture!
Zombies rise up!
SEPTEMBER
After our wildly successful “The Heat” run, I gambled and asked Frank for the R-rated “We’re the Millers” with Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts, and Ed Helms. Following that we’ll bring back the kids for Disney/Pixar’s “Planes.” We end the month with “The Butler,” and one I didn’t request, “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.”
