The Benton County Sheriff Randall Forsyth wants to remind motorist to be aware of slow moving vehicles as farmers work to harvest the crops. This time of year there are a lot of farm vehicles moving on Benton County Roads. Motorists need to slow when encountering these vehicles and use caution when passing any farm vehicle.

Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, one of the candidates for the Republican nomination for the 2012 presidential race, will be at the Vinton Public Library from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Monday, October 3. The public is invited.
Suspended sentence for Lyons in election fraud case
Former Vinton-Shellsburg School Board President will not face any prison time after pleading guilty to election fraud and perjury of statement.
Lyons was sentenced today in Benton County District Court. He was sentenced to five years and fined $750 plus costs on each count, with the prison sentences suspended. He was also placed on supervised probation for two years.

To help them cope with the changes in their minds, it can help to have items that are familiar to them. I have put together a list of items that we are requesting for our residents.
