Iowa State University Extension is sponsoring Planning Your Financial Future for Childcare Providers. According to the instructor, Phyllis Zalenski, Family Finance Specialist, with Iowa State University Extension, “Planning for your financial future is an important part of success in reaching your financial goals as a childcare provider. These classes will help you learn how to increase your savings, understand investment principles, choose investments wisely, and plan for retirement.”

Sessions are scheduled for Monday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on October 10 and November 7, 2011, at the Linn County Extension Office, 3279 – 7th Avenue in Marion. Sessions 1 & 2 will provide different content that is relevant to planning your financial future but each session can be taken independently and qualifies for 2 DHS training hours.

The sessions include the following topics:

Session 1: Manage Your Money - reduce your expenses, increase your savings, get out of debt, raise your income, set financial goals

Session 2: Prepare for retirement - make better decisions regarding buying a car, getting a loan, how much to save, learn 5 rules of investing, understand IRA options, estimate your Social Security Benefits, find money to save.
