Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School band director Jody Biershenk and her students visted the VInton Lutheran home on Tuesday. The students performed more than 20 musical numbers for the residents.

As mentioned in this article from the July 13 Vinton Today, we will continue with our annual tradition of the Tree of Lights. This year marks the 10th year for Urbana, the 13th for Van Horne, and the 20th for Vinton.

The Virginia Gay Hospital Holiday Tree Walk and silent auction has returned to Virginia Gay Hospital. Already there are several bids for every tree, wreath and baby basket on display.
The first Holiday Tree Walk, in 2010, was the idea of Jenny Northrup and Kim Frank. Jenny, a member of the Cardiopulmonary Services Department, mentioned the idea to some of the others there.

Congressman Leonard Boswell, in his last few months as the representative of Benton County in the U.S. House, visited the Benton County Jail and the Emergency Management Agency Emergency Operations Center that his office helped fund.
Boswell worked with local leaders and FEMA on funding for replacing the jail after the 2008 flood.

Vinton-Shellsburg High School will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive this Friday, November 11, from 2:30-6:30 in the school commons. By hosting a blood drive, VSHS becomes eligible to participate in the "Young Minds Change Lives" Educational Scholarship Program, which awards our school scholarship money based on the number of units of blood we collect.

The Committee is in need of 4-5 local business people to volunteer their time to part of the Dr Jim Wand show.
