     The Angel Tree has been set up at US Bank, to give area residents a chance to buy a specific gift for an area child. Donors are asked to pick up a card from the tree, and return the gift.       The G & G auto parts store also has a tree for donations of toys and other presents for children.

     Just four years after the Blairstown/Luzerne area was rattled by the murder of one of its hardest-working senior citizens, it lost another one in another murder that was never solved.      It began in the fog, in the beginning of August, 1981. Daryl Jellison called authorities in the middle of the night, to tell them he had received an anonymous phone call from an older man at around 1 a.

       Lori Arbuckle is one of the regulars at the Vinton Animal Shelter, where she volunteers several hours per day for several days. Arbuckle is also an associate at Sam's Club, where the company makes donations of cash in honor of employee volunteer efforts.      Arbuckle recruited 50 colleagues to donate a total of 250 hours of labor at the shelter and shelter-related events.

Jess Dickerson, Vicki Kramer-  Someone threw a garbage can and the two of them went out of their way and cleaned up the garbage that spilled on the floor

       Are you an avid gardener, but would like to know more about gardening, plants and horticulture? Would you like to meet people who share your interest in gardening? If so, you may be interested in becoming a MASTER GARDENER.      What is a MASTER GARDENER? Master Gardeners are individuals who have an interest in horticulture, have taken the Master Gardener training offered by the extension service and share their time and expertise with other gardeners.

      For 25 years, Gary Dvorak ran the Cafe de Klos in a historic building in Cedar Rapids.      Gary and his wife, Joan, sold the business and took a few years off to follow their son's baseball career. Now, they are returning to the restaurant business, in a historic site: The Vinton Legion Hall.      Standing in the alley behind the building, in the same spot where Legion members stood on Sept.

    Live music, wine tastings, refreshments, discounts and much more were available for customers during the annual Holiday Open House in Vinton on Sunday afternoon. The event begins the holiday shopping season in Vinton. 

Jeff Peterson, President of the Vinton Lions Club is presenting a check to Renee Stein board member of the Vinton Shellsburg Viking Vikette Athletic Booster Club in the amount of $1,000.00.  Proceeds are from the Lions concession trailer sales this past football season.
