In Depth: Hope Springs arrives at Palace

  IT’S. FINALLY. HERE! “Hope Springs” opens Friday, October 19 and runs through Thursday, October 25 at 7 p.m. every night, and in our regular Monday matinee on October 22 at 2 p.m. I’ve heard from several patrons who couldn’t wait that this is a terrific movie – and that Tommy Lee Jones out-Meryls Meryl Steep.

In Depth - The Odd Life of Timothy Green

If you haven’t had a chance to check out our new seats, hope you find time for “The Odd Life of Timothy Green.” Showing Friday, October 12 through Thursday, October 19 at 7 p.m. every night, and Monday, October 15 at 2 p.m., “Timothy Green” is rated PG and runs 104 minutes. According to my mom, you’ll want to see it with the whole family.

The end is near!  All seats are installed and the big clean-up has begun!  I think Gerald has tried out every single seat. ACT 1 to hold auditions for Christmas production Oct. 6-8

ACT I of Benton County will be hosting auditions for its upcoming 2012 Christmas Production, Hope for Christmas, written and directed by Halane Cummings. Several adults and 17 children ages 4+ are needed for this seasonal community theater play. Auditions will be held this next Saturday, Sunday and Monday (October 6-8) at Tilford Elementary Auditorium.

  And wait we shall – for another week! The new chair standards (armrests) have not arrived – pushing our re-open to October, and cancelling “Bully.” Standards did ship, however, and our latest promise from the seat company is that installation will begin on Friday morning, September 28. They will work through the weekend.

In Depth - Palace in need of cordless drills with 7/16 and 1/2 sockets

The Palace Theatre will be closed Friday, September 7 through Thursday, September 20 for floor polishing, seat installation and deep cleaning. On Saturday, September 8 at 9 am we will begin removing seats on the main floor. Volunteers are welcome to unbolt and carry seats. Cordless drills with 7/16” and 1/2” sockets needed. The Palace will reopen on Friday, September 21 with the long-awaited “Hope Springs.

Vinton native Sarah Springer helped design 'Dark Knight Rises' costumes

Sarah Springer, with her mom, Jeannie, helped design costumes for 'Dark Knight Rises.'   The producers of the latest Batman movie wanted to make the cat burglar suit unique from other superhero costumes in other movies. So they asked a Vinton native for help. Sarah Springer, a 2006 Vinton-Shellsburg alum, says the Batman gig was her first real movie job, and for her a big break toward a career in movie costume design.

  Long-awaited, “The Dark Knight Rises” hits the Palace silver screen Friday, August 17 through Thursday, August 23 at 7 p.m. every night, and in our regular Monday matinee on August 20 at 2 p.m. With a running time of 164 minutes, and PG-13 rating for intense sequences of violence and action, some sensuality and language, this dark and heavy film is not for younger viewers.
