Union High School’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” production wins a school record 11 statewide awards for 2nd year in a row. Union High School’s spring musical production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” recently was informed by the Iowa High School Musical Theatre Awards that they are the recipients of 11 awards for this year’s production.

ACT I of Benton County’s spring production is the comic drama Lost in Yonkers by Neil Simon. The play is about a dysfunctional family consisting of a mother and her four adult children living in Yonkers, New York during World War Two. Grandma Kurnitz, matriarch of the family, is a German Jewish immigrant who moved to America with her husband and six children after World War I.

Vanished: A Victorian Tale performed by area Homeschoolers

Vanished: A Victorian Tale was an intriguing play about a missing princess and the plot to save her life. The cast of the show included students from two local school districts that participate in the homeschool program. Both Vinton-Shellsburg and Benton Community homeschoolers team up for the Spring production each year.

VSHS Music to hold Year End Concert May 13

Friday was a great day for the VSHS Music Department. All three choirs and the band traveled to West Delaware High School where they participated in the State Large Group Festival. All ensembles performed wonderfully and received the ratings to show it! Treble Choir received a II (Excellent) and Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, and Symphonic Band all received I's (Superior).

Joe & Vicki Price~ Playin' The Blues in Garrison

The homeschool programs of both Vinton Shellsburg and Benton Community join forces each year for an annual play production. This year the play is called, "Vanished-A Victorian Tale."Performances are Friday evening, May 3 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoon May 5th at 3:00 p.m.Admission is $1 for all ages (or leave a freewill donation greater than that amount and they will appreciate the extra help!)The play will be shown at the Tilford Elementary School Auditorium in Vinton.
