Dave Duncklee

The Northeast Iowa community mourns the loss of Dave Duncklee, 84, who passed away peacefully in a Florida hospital following a significant brain bleed. His high school sweetheart, Cheryl, was by his side for 62 years. A celebration of life will be held  on Saturday, June 7th from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. a the Waukon Middle School cafeteria. This will be an informal gathering for friends, family, former students, and colleagues can come together to share memories and honor Dave's life.

Arlene Carls (nee Lillian Arlene Tornberg)

Arlene Carls (nee Lillian Arlene Tornberg), 96, of Vinton, Iowa, passed away peacefully, on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Vinton Lutheran Home.Arlene was born July 27, 1928, in Beresford, SD, the daughter of Oscar and Lillian (Chadwick) Tornberg. She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Arlene was a talented student and graduated as High School valedictorian.

Gregory A. Hanson

Following a brief illness, Gregory A. Hanson, 68, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at UI Health Care Medical Center, Iowa City. A celebration of Greg’s life will be held 11:00 am to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 24, 2025, at The Well, 417 1st Avenue, Vinton, as Greg wouldn’t have wanted anyone to miss planting time on his account. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is caring for Greg and his family.

Theodore “Ted” Usher

Theodore “Ted” Usher, 79, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab, Vinton.  Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 24, at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton. Ted was born July 23, 1945 in Vinton, the son of Levitt and Lola (Johnson) Usher.  He attended school in Vinton.

Larry Geiselhart

Larry Geiselhart age 71 of Calmar, IA passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah. There will be no formal services for Larry as per his request. There will be a FunForAll on June 21, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Chase the Adventure, 1838 Middle Calmar Rd Decorah, Iowa, to celebrate his life. Food and drink will be provided.

Kimberly “Kim” Junge

Not to suggest that my family wouldn’t have raved about the phenomenal person I was… I’m just not taking any chances.My story begins on September 19, 1960, when I was born to two of the most wonderful people in the world: Alfred Kajer and Marlene Crabtree.

Leona Anna Marie Danker

Leona Anna Marie Danker was born March 25, 1933, in Van Horne, Iowa, the daughter of Hans and Lena (Hessenius) Petersen. She graduated from Van Horne High School in 1951. Leona was united in marriage to John H. Danker on November 27, 1955, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Newhall, Iowa. She worked as a bookkeeper for Joyce Lumber in Van Horne and Vinton, Marengo Jaycee Theater, Marengo Elevator for 16 years, Farm and Home and retired from the Marengo Bank after 20 years.

Darcy Jane (Moran) McMains

Darcy Jane (Moran) McMains, 53, of Elberon, IA passed away May 18, 2025, surrounded by family, at her home in Elberon, IA after a courageous battle with cancer.Darcy was born February 15, 1972, to John and Martha (Mullins) Moran in Cedar Rapids, IA. She graduated from Benton Community, Class of 1990.Darcy cared for people working in healthcare her entire career; most recently at Compass Memorial Hospital, which she truly enjoyed.

Joyce Irene (Fennern) Gahring

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Irene (Fennern) Gahring, age 84, on Sunday, May 18th, 2025.Per Joyce's request, there are no funeral services planned.Joyce was born on May 3, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, to Waldo "Buster" and B. Lucille (Joyce) Long.  On August 23, 1986 she was united in marriage to Larry Gahring in Cedar Rapids.

Sandra (Sandy) McGrath

Sandra (Sandy) McGrath was born a beautiful, eastern Iowan hard worker as Sandra Lee Etten on July 28, 1949, at John McDonald Hospital in Monticello, Iowa. The daughter of Marvin and Betty (Brignac) Etten. Soon after Sandy's arrival Marv and Betty began building a new house in Fairfax, Iowa. As a new family, they lived in the basement of the house as it was built above and around them.
