Gladys Folkmann
Gladys Folkmann, 91 of Newhall, passed away on April 18, 2024 at the Vinton Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday 10:30 AM April 22, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall with Rev. Nick Palmer officiating. Interment will be at St. John Cemetery near Newhall. Visitation will be held at the church, from 2 to 5 PM on April 21, 2024. Phyllis Burhenn
Phyllis Burhenn was born March 13, 1925, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Joe and Effie (Thede) Havran. She grew up on a farm outside of Keystone and attended country school. Phyllis married Harold Burhenn on May 20, 1944; he preceded her in death on March 2, 1994. Phyllis was a strong and witty woman. She helped farm for many years and continued to live on the farm for over 30 years after she lost her husband, Harold.
John Marvin “Shorty” Wilson
John Marvin “Shorty” Wilson, age 89, of Zionsville, Indiana, died on March 21, 2024, after a short illness. John was born on November 14, 1934, in Van Horne, Iowa, to E. Douglass and Alice (Herzberger) Wilson. He graduated from Van Horne High School in 1953. He was a gifted athlete and played center on the Van Horne basketball team from 1950-1953. Norma Lou Kerr
Norma Lou Kerr, age 81, of West Union, Iowa passed away surrounded by her family early on Wednesday morning March 20, 2024 at Gundersen Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union.Norma was born on April 13, 1942 at home on the family farm near Garnavillo, Iowa to Walter and Lucille (Lenth) Behnken. She graduated from Postville High School and then married her husband Donald Kerr on June 17, 1961 at St. Jim Howard
Jim Howard, age 76, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 18, 2024 in Hiawatha, Iowa. Memorial services were held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Urbana Methodist Church, with Rev. Michael Sells officiating. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 17 at 10:00 AM at Urbana Memorial Cemetery. Jim was born July 19, 1947, in Chico, CA, to Lawrence and Billie (Crawford) Howard.

Walter Earl Bruce, age 89, of Shellsburg, Iowa died April 15, 2024, at his home in rural Shellsburg. Visitation will be from 9:00 until 11:00 AM on Friday, April 19, 2024. Memorial service 11:30 AM Friday, April 19, 2024, at Oak Grove Christian Church, Shellsburg, with Rev. Matt Magee officiating. Dino Michael Rubino, 63, of Vinton, Iowa sadly left us on April 11, 2024 after a hard fight with a sudden illness. Dino is survived by his wife, Dawn (Vinton), son Josh (Carey) Ankeny, Rose (Jimmy) Mt Auburn, Shannon (Carrie) Cedar Rapids. Dino had seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Memorial Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 20, 2024, at New Covenant Bible Church in Cedar Rapids.June was born on August 20, 1954, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd and Frances (Bangham) Peters of Vinton, IA.She received her Musical Education Degree from Luther College and Master of Arts Degree in Education from Ashford University.
