Richard B. Yates, 93, of Cedar Rapids formerly Palo, died Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Hiawatha Care Center. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Teahen Funeral Home and Cremation are caring for Richard and his family.Richard is survived by his son, Douglas (Debra) Yates of Palo; daughter, Connie (Allen) Stueck of Atkins; grandchildren, Brianna (Preston) Cannady of Queen Creek, AZ, Danielle (Brian) Balvin of Chelsea, Brent (Jessa) Stueck of Hiawatha, and Matthew (Brooke) Yates of Palo; and great-grandchildren, Graham, Gia, Kaylee, Henry, Teagan, Terran, and Tate.

Susanne “Susie” Kay Sebetka, 78, of Norway, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 1, 2025. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church celebrated by Rev. Ken Glaser. Phyllis Patricia Cornelis, 99, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away June 2, 2025 at Belle Plaine Specialty Care, Belle Plaine, IA. Phyllis was born October 18, 1925 to Joseph Frank and Mildred Leona (Ealy) Sichra in Belle Plaine. Graduating from Belle Plaine High School, class of 1943. On May 25, 1943, Phyllis married Victor C. Cornelis at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Belle Plaine.

Derrell G. Scott Sr., 90, of Iowa Falls, IA, formerly of Independence, IA, died on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at his home in Iowa Falls, IA.Derrell was born on September 14, 1934, in Independence, IA, the son of Vernon A. and Opal C. (Brimmer) Scott. He grew up in Independence and attended the Independence Community Schools. Derrell went to work with his dad.

Victoria Deloris O’Brian, affectionately known as Dee, passed away on May 30, 2025, at the age of 77.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Springs of Life Church (2300 26th Street NW) in Cedar Rapids, with Rev. Chad Garrison officiating.  A reception will follow the service at the church.

Donna Lee Bascom, 73, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Newhall, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, May 26, 2025.  Funeral services will be held at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Newhall at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 30, 2025, with Rev. Nick Palmer and Rev. Stephen Rempfer officiating.  Friends and family may visit with the family before the service from 9:00 until 10:30 AM, also at the church.

Steven Wright, 77, passed away at his home surrounded by family on April 26, 2025.A Celebration of Steven's Life will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Cambridge City Center, 225 S. Water Street, Cambridge, Iowa, with military honors rendered at 3 p.m. by the United States Army.Steven Craig Wright was born June 9, 1947, in Vinton, Iowa, to Robert and Goldie (Alpers) Wright.

Lynn Montgomery, 75, passed away unexpectedly, at her home, Monday, May 26, 2025.  A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, June 21, at the Vinton Country Club. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton, is caring for Lynn and her family. Lynn was born June 18, 1949, the daughter of Lloyd and Milly (Karasti) Stenlund in Escanaba, MI.

Steven Leslie Chamberlain, 71, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025.  Burial of his ashes will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.  Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home will be assisting the family.  Following burial, Stacey and Tammy will be hosting a celebration of Steven’s life at Riverside Park, Hummel Shelter, North 8th Avenue, Vinton.
