Dianne Marie Karal, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 14, 2026. She struggled with liver disease. A Celebration of Life will be held at Palo United Methodist Church at 11a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026. Teahen Funeral Home is caring for Dianne and her family.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Michael W. Karal of Cedar Rapids, niece; Donita Naumowitz of Milwaukee, WI, great-nephew; Tyler (Madison) Naumowitz of Milwaukee, WI, sisters-in-law; Karen (Jim) Colbert of Ames and Beth (Brad) Hamilton of Fairfax, nephews and nieces; Michaela (Andy) Schultz of Dewitt, Kallie (Tom) Nichols of Fairfax, Danielle (Calvin) Voelker of Atkins, Christopher Flynn of Hiawatha, James (Jennifer) Colbert of Denver, CO, great-nieces and nephews; Ann and Julia Calbert, Wyatt and Rhett Hamilton, Salem and Deegan Nichols, and Robie Schultz.
Loved ones preceded her in death, sister, Sandra McMains and sister-in-law, Suellen Flynn.
Dianne Marie Pearson was born to Donald & Geraldine Pearson on December 28, 1946 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Most of her youth was spent on a farm near Blakesburg, Iowa. After graduating from Moravia high school in 1965 she moved to Cedar Rapids and worked for Collins for 37 years. After retirement for the next 13 years she served as the office manager for her husband’s CPA business and retired in 2018.
She married Michael Karal on November 15, 1985 and spent the next 40 years being a devoted wife, she cherished all her family and many friends.
Dianne and Michael shared a passion for travel. They visited 76 countries and all 7 continents. They encountered wonderful experiences and memories that lasted a lifetime. She would then come home and make a scrapbook recounting their experiences on each trip. They were a work of art.
For the last several years she has attended church at Palo United Methodist Church where she received great support.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the doctors and nurses of Mercy Hospital and Linda Olsen for their exceptional care of Dianne.
Memorials may be directed to Palo United Methodist Church in Dianne’s name.
