Edmund “Ed” Leroy Bauer

Edmund “Ed” Leroy Bauer, 75, of Walker, Iowa, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church, located at 1115 Water Street in Center Point, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, at the church, where an additional visitation will be held one hour prior to service.

Michael Hite

Michael Ross Hite was born on December 3rd, 1945, to Harold and Eileen Hite, at Mercy Hospital. Mike was the fourth of seven children who grew up in Vinton, Iowa. After graduating Vinton High school, Mike was drafted in the U.S. Army and went to the Vietnam War where he was an E5 Sargent. After serving, he came home went back to his job of tuckpointing.

Carolyn Marie Berger

Carolyn Marie Berger, age 72, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab in Vinton. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.Carolyn was born on August 20, 1950, in Vinton, the daughter of John and Roberta (Bordwell) Berger and graduated from Washington High School in Vinton, with the class of 1969.

Donald Ray Montgomery

Donald Ray Montgomery, age 91, died Monday, June 5, 2023, at the Vinton Lutheran Home.Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton.  Family graveside services will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery on Thursday. Don was born on August 30, 1931, on the family farm in Harrison Township, Benton County, the son of Guy E.

Judy A. Henkel-Fox

Judy A. Henkel-Fox, 83, of Waterloo, formerly of Vinton and Manchester, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023, at the Cedar Valley Inpatient Hospice Home in Waterloo with her family by her side.Graveside services for friends and family will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton at 1:00 PM, Monday June 19, 2023Judy was born on June 19, 1939, in Garrison, the daughter of Arthur and Opal (Parks) Wilson.

Felicia Kylee Tharp

Felicia Kylee Tharp, age 28, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023 from injuries suffered in a traffic accident near Cedar RapidsMemorial services will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, June 9, 2023 at the Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown.  Interment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home on Friday.

Ivan Keith Grimm

Ivan Keith Grimm, 65, of Waterloo, IA passed away from a sudden illness. A celebration of life will be held June 24th at Shellsburg Mason Hall from 10 to 2.Ivan was born January 19th, 1958 to Wayne and Nadine (Hinckley) Grimm. Ivan was a jack of all trades, working in different careers throughout his life. He liked to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023, at First Christian Church in Center Point. Burial: Urbana Memorial Cemetery, Center Point.

Richard "Dick" Lewis Grimm

Richard "Dick" Lewis Grimm 87 of Garrison, IA passed away surrounded by loving family on May 8th, 2023 at the Vinton Lutheran Home. Services will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 1206 C Ave, Vinton, IA 52349 on Saturday, June 10th, 2023 with visitation from 2 pm to 4 pm and service at 4 pm, officiated by Pastor Anne Williams.Dick was born at home in Garrison on August 5th, 1935 to parents Thornton and Meana (Ehlers) Grimm.

 Linda Mae Meyer, age 71, of Newhall, formerly of Keystone, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at her home in Newhall.A visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone.  Private family graveside services will be held at the Keystone Cemetery.Linda was born on August 18, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of John Herman and Darlene (Wiese) Meyer and graduated from Benton Community High School.
