The VS Bowling Team competed against West Delaware on Friday and we were victorious across the board.  The Varsity boys team had a slow start but quickly recovered to win by  98 pins.

VINTON — Brooks Erickson ran 16 yards for a late first half touchdown, Bennett Rickles added an extra point that was the mathematical difference Friday night as the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings edged Waterloo Columbus, 7-6 at the Karr Athletic Complex.

Girls Varsity was led by Junior Anna Becker with a 214 and 225 for a great 439 series. Anna has really improved her game as it showed tonight.  The girls finished with a 2709 which is a  180.

Vinton-Shellsburg senior placekicker Jesse Pladsen was the named a 2nd-team All-Stater Monday by the Iowa Print Sport Writers Association.Pladsen led Class 2A with six field goals during the season on just six attempts and his 42-yarder against Solon was the second-longest in 2A.

VSU  girls swam in the state qualifying district meet today at Dubuque Hempstead against incredibly fast competition. Vinton-Shellsburg Union was the smallest district by far in the field of Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Decorah, Dubuque Hempstead, Dubuque Walhert, Dubuque Senior, and Waterloo East/West.

VSU Girls swimming had a solid victory for their 2nd and final home meet Thursday 10/22. They beat Williamsburg 68 - 26 in the final team standings. The home team took 1st place in all but 1 event, and took 1st and 2nd 6 of the 11 events.
