VINTON -- It was a great day to run Tuesday for the Vinton-Shellsburg Invitational cross-country meet on the grounds of the V-S high school.

The Vikette varsity finished a season-best fourth in the team race, while the Viking boys were a solid eighth in the 12-team field.

Junior Charlee Johnson finished 18th to lead the Vikettes in a time 23:25.8. Molly Haisman was not far off in 24th in 24:17.4, followed closely by freshman Infinity Wrestlie, 28th in 24.39.0.

The Vikings were paced by sophomore Elijah Blix, 20th in a time of 19:18.0. Also cracking the 20-minute mark was sophomore Merritt Bodeker in a time 19:33.5

The Viking JV finished seventh overall, led by freshman Max Janssen. The Vikette JV did not have a complete but got strong performances from junior Bailey Weeks and freshman Rachel Rollinger.

The V-S middle schoolers had top performances from Olivia Primrose, fifth in the girls' race with a 2-mile time of 15:22.9, and from Ryan Sivola in 13:39.6 to snare third in the boys' race in 13:39.6.
