VSU swam their modified North Central Iowa Swim Conference meet on Saturday. Instead of having all teams swim at one location, the teams were split into two locations to allow for more social distancing. VSU swam with Williamsburg and Oskaloosa at Williamsburg, while Grinnell, Boone and Decorah swam at Decorah.
The girls swam very well all morning. 21 of the 30 individual events saw VSU girls swim lifetime best times, and 4 of 8 relays had season best times as well.
Clarissa Carolan (picture attached) swam 4 events resulting in 2 individual and 2 relay best times. She cut over 3 seconds off of her 200 IM time to finish in 2:25.03 and become the second-fastest IMer in program history. Her 2 second cut in the 100 Backstroke also bumped her to the second-fastest backstroker in program history.
Lauren Moore continues to cut time in her individual events and relay splits. And our distance swimmers Justyce Dominick (photo attached)& Carlie Spore both had major time drops in their 200 and 500 Freestyles.
The 200 Freestyle Relay photo attached shows Maren Redlinger on the block while Clarissa Carolan & Geordyn Webster cheer on Lexi Goodell in the water.
We have our last home meet Thursday, Oct 22 at 4:30 pm against Williamsburg. Then it's a long stretch to Districts on Nov 7 in Dubuque.
