Scott Hogan wins the Butler Built North Central Region IMCA Modified title

A shortage of starts didn’t prevent Scott Hogan from winning the Butler Built North Central Region IMCA Modified title. Along with nine feature wins, the Vinton  pilot scored track titles at Benton County Speedway and 34 Raceway.

Undefeated Union, Burnside set new school records in win over Vikings

The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings traveled to Union Friday night with a 4-4 record and needing a win to extend their season into the playoffs.  Coach Farley and his team went to La Porte with a simple strategy: Keep the ball, use up lots of clock and keep the ball out of the hands of the Union offense and record-setting running back Wes Burnside.

6th grade Viking Gold team finishes 5-1 in Metro League

The 6th Grade Viking Gold football team completed its 2010 season with a 5-1 record in the Metro Youth Football League.  The team is 10-2 over the past two years playing mostly 4-A schools in the league.
