Farley to leave Viking football program; to become head coach at East Marshall
Vinton-Shellsburg High School Football Coach Pat Farley has announced his resignation.
Farley told Vinton Today on Friday that he will become the head coach at East Marshall High School.
While also resigning his teaching position for the coming school year, Farley said he would like to retain his job as a summer school teacher this year.
Viking golfers take 3rd at Clear Creek-Amana
The Vinton-Shellsburg boys golf team, led by Dylan Rippel's 44, took third place at the Clear Creek-Amana quadrangular meet April 12.

Vikings win again; take first at Iowa Valley track meet
With just a few first place finishes, but many medalists, the Vinton-Shellsburg boys won another track meet on Tuesday, winning the Ruth Ahrens Invitational at Iowa Valley. The Vikings scored 128.5 points, one more than second-place Solon.
"It was another great win for the guys," said Coach Aric Chvala. "A lot of the time people think that you have to win every event to win a track meet but I guess we are proving that theory wrong -- we don't win many events but we we place in most of them.
Vikettes win home quadrangular golf meet

Vikings earn victory over Independence in wind at VCC
On a day not ideal for golf, the Vinton-Shellsburg boys defeated Independence by four, 175-179. Daniel Janssen led all golfers with a 40.

VPRD accepting registrations for Adult Softball League
The Vinton Parks & Recreation Department has begun accepting registrations for the upcoming Adult Softball League season! Teams will have a chance to enjoy the recent renovations made to Lions Field as they compete in either the Men's divisions or the Women's division. Get your team together and be sure to turn in your registration form by Friday, April 20th.
Vikettes lose to Independence on windy day at golf course
The Vinton-Shellsburg and Independence girls golf teams met in Independence on Tuesday, in cool and very windy contitions. The Mustangs defeated the Vikettes, 217-234.

Rippel, Ervin lead Viking golf team to win at CPU
Dylan Rippel led all golfers with a 41 during the April 5 meet between Vinton-Shellsburg and CPU boys in Center Point. Daniel Ervin was second overall with a 42. The Vikings defeated the Stormin' Pointers, 172-175.

Speedway to hold 50/50 raffle for ambulance service
VINTON, Iowa – This Sunday, April 15, Benton County Speedway will hold a 50/50 raffle in support of the North Benton Ambulance Service during the track’s season points opener. The ambulance crew has provided its services at the speedway on race nights for many years.
Proceeds from the raffle will go toward purchase of a Lucas Device, a piece of equipment that provides automatic CPR and greatly assists medics when working with individuals in crisis.
