Liz Hill's Lansing Kee softball team struggled at times in its Class 1A State semi-final game vs. AGWSR today, but held on for a 3-1 win. The Kee Hawks and Coach Hill will play for the State Championship at 10 a.m. on Friday in Fort Dodge.
The Kee Hawks committed three errors and pitcher Kendra Cooper allowed one earned run on five hits.

Vikings end season with heart-breaking District loss, 3-2
Ahead of Clear Creek-Amana, 2-1 going into the bottom of the seventh, the Vinton Shellsburg Vikings allowed two runs and ended their season on the short end of a 3-2 score in the District championship game.
Sophomore pitcher Tyler Rippel held the Clippers to two earned runs; he also had a productive game at the plate, scoring both of the Vikings' runs.

The Vinton-Shellsburg baseball team advanced in post-season play, defeating Williamsburg, 6-5 in a come-from-behind road win.
Down 5 to 1 after the second inning, the Vikings tied the game in the fifth then took the lead in the seventh.
Freshman Scottie Wirth pitched the first five innings; sophomore Tyler Rippel earned the win, pitching hitless sixth and seventh innings.
