Allen L. Cress, 80, of Luzerne, Iowa, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, at his home. Per his wishes, no services will be held. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.Allen was born Sept. 9, 1941, in rural Linn County, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Margaret (Tharp) Cress.

Travis James Rieck

Travis James Rieck, 38, of Palo, Iowa, passed away at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the New Covenant Bible Church on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 1:30 p.m. with pastors Jay Haugh and Mark Forstrom officiating.

Virgil Ray Marek

Virgil Ray Marek, 73, formerly of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022 in Georgia. Mr. Marek was a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and had lived in Macon for 10 years before moving to Lake Sinclair 5 years ago. He was the son of the late Albert and Anna J. Fousek Marek; and was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Marek, and a sister, Gladys Jones.

Joyce Bowman

Joyce Bowman passed away on Nov. 10, 2021.She was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Emery and Doris Lane. She attended grade school in Cedar Rapids followed by high school in Atkins, Iowa and Chaffey Jr. College in California.She started as a clerk typist for the USAF/civilian and retired as an auditor on several top secret projects.

Boyd E. Wolf, 84, of Oelwein, Iowa, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2022, at his home.There will be a private family visitation and funeral. Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein, Iowa. Gale “Hoot” Heitmann

Gale “Hoot” Heitmann, age 67, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at his home in rural Keystone.Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, Monday, January 17, 2022 at the Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone.  Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery at a later date.Gale was born, on August 4, 1954 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Elmer and Edna (Olmsted) Heitmann.

Shirley Lavonne Turner Pippert

Shirley Lavonne Turner Pippert, 96, passed away at Virginia Gay Hospital, Vinton, on Thursday, January 13, 2022 following a brief illness.Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton. Burial will be at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.Shirley was born October 5, 1925 to Edward and Vera (Merchant) Turner on the family farm outside of Garrison.

Travis Speer

Travis Speer, age 41, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from complications of a cerebral aneurism. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Maranatha Bible Church (526 3rd Avenue SW in Cedar Rapids) with Pastor Aaron Telecky officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, Friday, also at the church.

William Edward Cummings

Bill Cummings, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior and beloved wife, Faye, on December 7, 2021. Bill was born April 22, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Roger Allen and Ethel Mae (Seely) Cummings. At an early age he moved with his family to Vinton. He was a 1950 graduate of Lincoln High School in Vinton.On June 3, 1951, Bill was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Faye Baldwin, at the Assembly of God Church in Vinton.

Arthur Franklin Harris

Arthur Franklin Harris, age 79, Bloomington, California passed suddenly on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at his home. He was born in Iowa on June 5, 1942, to Thornton and Bernelta (Bahnsen) Harris.He graduated from Tipton High School in 1961 and joined the Navy in 1963. Art married his wife Sharon Lee (Hope) Harris of California in June of 1963. He worked for GTE which later became Verizon, retired 2002.
