Darrel Lynn Derby, 68, of Elberon, IA passed away October 24, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, IA.

Darrel was born January 26, 1954 to Everett Nelson and Betty Eldora (Northup) Derby in Delta, IA. He graduated from Sigourney, IA, class of 1972. Following school, Darrel joined the Army National Guard and began working for Amana Refrigeration, which he retired after 47 years in 2019. Darrel met Miva Hilton while working at Amana. On February 18, 1977 the couple were married in Delta, IA at the Methodist Church. Together the couple raised their family in Elberon.

Darrel liked reading, watching westerns, and working. He enjoyed listening to oldies music and could be seen dancing down the isle of the store. Most of all he loved spending time with family and looked forward to unexpected visits to see the grandkids. No one was a stranger to Darrel, as he would say "wave and make a friend, so no one is a stranger."

He is survived by his wife, Miva Derby of Elberon; children, Daniel (Jennifer) Derby of Belle Plaine, Christopher (Makenzie) Derby of Dysart, Stephanie Derby of Belle Plaine, Andrew Derby and Nicholas Derby both of Elberon; daughter-in-law, Kena Derby of Marshalltown; grandchildren, Jamie and Katie Rich, Jackie, Rawnie, Dallas, Reid, Kion and Phineas Derby; siblings, Dallas Derby, Fred Derby, Stuart (Doris) Derby, Kimberly (Terry) Grimm, Valerie (Bryan) Lee, Melba (Darrell) Geib and many more loving family and friends.

Darrel is preceded in death by his parents and son, Jeffery Derby.
