Carol (Bergen) Junge

Carol (Bergen) Junge, 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Lantern Park Specialty Care in Coralville.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the Keystone Cemetery with Rev. B. Andrew Wright officiating.Carol was born on May 17, 1943 in Vinton, the daughter of Robert and Edna (Husted) Bergen.  She graduated from Shellsburg High School, with the class of 1961, where she excelled in basketball, and softball, and also played clarinet and percussion in the band.

Linda M. Thomsen

Linda M. Thomsen, 73, died Sunday, May 8, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Per Linda’s request, there will be no services. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Vinton American Legion, June 18th, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Vinton is assisting Linda’s family.Linda was born on September 18, 1948 in Vinton, the daughter of Donald and Lily (Anderson) Vogt.

Lois Louise Toney

Lois Louise Toney, 82, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022, at home surrounded by family.Services are 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine with Russ Spading officiating. James “Diamond Jim” Van Morrison

James “Diamond Jim” Van Morrison, 64, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away May 4, 2022 at his home due to natural causes.Jim was born October 11, 1957 to James Leroy and Janet Lee (VanAuken) Morrison in Sigourney, IA. Jim graduated from English Valley High School, class of 1975. He worked for Williamsburg Manufacturing Co. for 20 years before his career at Kinze Manufacturing Inc.

Betty V. Sherrets

Betty V. Sherrets, 92, of Independence, Iowa died Wednesday morning, May 4, 2022, at the Prairie Hill Assisted Living Center in Independence, IA.Betty Downing was born on January 28, 1930, near Garrison, Iowa the daughter of George P. and Bernice A. (Schrader) Downing. She attended the LaPorte City Country Schools thru the 8th grade.On June 3, 1949, she was married to Richard L.

Timothy Allen Hoskins

Timothy Allen Hoskins, age 45, was unexpectedly taken from his friends and family way too soon on May 2, 2022.  He passed away peacefully at his home in Walford, IA.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Clover Ridge United Methodist Church in Walford with Pastor Kolleen Queener officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM, until 1:00 PM, Saturday, also at the church.

Seaman First Class David Franklin Tidball

Seaman First Class David Franklin Tidball, 20, of Independence, Iowa, died December 7, 1941, aboard the USS Oklahoma during the attack on Pearl Harbor at the beginning of World War Two. On March 3, 2021, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced that his remains had been recovered and identified and will be brought back to Iowa for Interment in the Tidball Family Plot.

Charles William (Doc) Troup D.V.M

Charles William (Doc) Troup D.V.M, age 82, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2022 surrounded by family and friends. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Friday, May 6, 2022, at the Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton. Interment will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday at Center Point Cemetery. Charles was born on March 12, 1940, to Harry and Mary (Randol) Troup in Maxwell, Iowa.

Thomas Ohrt, age 65, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at his home in Vinton.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 until 1 PM, Saturday, also at the funeral home.Thomas was born, on June 24, 1956, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Keith and Stella (Baldwin) Ohrt and graduated from Washinton High School in Vinton with the class of 1975.

Ronald LeRoy Hunt

Ronald LeRoy Hunt, age 67, left this life on Sunday, May 1, 2022 in the woods at Red Brush, where he lived his solitary life, with his cats nearby. A celebration of life will be held to honor him on Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 4:30 until 8:00 PM at the Pleasant Creek South Pavilion by the boat dock. He is survived by 2 children, Ronny Hunt of Marion, and Toni Hunt of Williamsburg; 6 grandchildren; brother Bill (Toodie) Hunt of Shellsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
