Lindauer produces short film about Iowa Attractions

Lindauer produces film through William Penn University which aired in Des Moines Sunday afternoon William Penn University is a private university in Oskaloosa and home to one of Vinton-Shellsburg's graduates. Noah Lindauer is part of the Film and Video Production class at William Penn. He had the opportunity to put together a short film entitled, "Attraction: Small Town Iowa." He wrote the film, as well as edited and produced it. The segment was aired on the Fox station in Des Moines on Sunday.

St. Patrick's Day Teen Tabletop Game Night at Center Point Library a Sucess

 Englishman Kevin Jones wears his luck of the Irish shirt (and shamrock glasses) for leading Friends of the Library game night March 17. Kevin and his wife Becky hosted a previous Friends game night during Christmas break and did so again on St. Patrick's Day. The couple hosted the tabletop Game Night at the Center Point Library. Besides being a good sport, Kevin is pastor of the Center Point First Christian Church and also a substitute teacher at CPU.

Dysart Holds "Iowa's Shortest Parade" on St. Patrick's Day

It was the first St. Patrick's Day parade that many in Dysart had ever attended. It was also the shortest parade any had attended. Just a block long, Dysart was full of smiles promptly at 12:15 p.m. The Mayor, Tim Glenn said that he had always wanted to have a St. Patrick's Day parade, and he finally can say that Dysart pulled it off. Going for the "shortest parade in Iowa" status, I'm pretty sure they qualified.

Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Prospers at Districts

Autumn McGowan, Christopher Fleming, Annabelle Newton, Grace Schminke, and Baylee Wheeler received 1st place in Parliamentary Procedure By: Co-Reporter, Grace Schminke On Saturday, March 12th, the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter traveled to Decorah to compete at the District Convention. Members arrived at the school at 5:30 am to prepare for each of their competitions. Each team put in countless hours of practice and work for this day and all tried their hardest. After each team's competition members were allowed to go and watch other teams compete and cheer on their chapter members.

IOWA 21 INTERSECTION WITH U.S. 30 TO CLOSE MARCH 28 FOR INTERCHANGE CONSTRUCTION

March 15, 2022 – An interchange grading and paving project at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Iowa 21 will require closing Iowa 21 north of U.S. 30, near Elberon, and south of U.S. 30, near Belle Plaine, from 7 a.m. Monday, March 28, until Fall 2023, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Marshalltown construction office.

Dr. Song speaks to the local Kiwanis Club

Dr. Kyle Song recently spoke to the Vinton Kiwanis Club about his experience and how he got into the medical field. Born and raised in New York, and with his parents are still living there Dr. Song and his family have now settled in Iowa. After attending college at Virginia Tech, Song's first choice was to attend the Animal Science program and specialize in poultry.

Vinton Shellsburg FFA Competes at Sub-Districts

By: Co-Reporter, Isabel MullinexOn Wednesday, February 23rd, the Vinton Shellsburg FFA chapter had 27 members compete at the Sub-District competition held in Cedar Falls, Iowa. These members competed in various activities and competitions and practiced many hours to be successful in these. Some members were able to watch and support fellow FFA members during competitions as well since they were set to perform at other levels.

Cub Scouts Pack 47 hold Arrow of Light Ceremony for Carter Smith

Cub Scout Pack 47 held the Arrow of Light ceremony recognizing one of their own, Carter Smith the son of Cody and Melissa. Carter has completed all of the ranks of the Cub Scouts.
