     Iowa Governor Terry Brandstad will be bringing his "Jobs for Iowa Tour" to Vinton today, Wednesday, March 9, 2011,  from 2:30pm - 3:30pm in the school board meeting room on the south side of V/S Middle School (The old high school) at 1502 C Avenue.

  A new law which went into effect on January 1, 2011 requires the Sheriff of each county to issue a permit to carry weapons to any person 21 years of age or older who is not addicted to alcohol, not likely to use a weapon unlawfully or in such a manner as would endanger the person’s self or others, is not a felon, and has not been convicted of a serious or aggravated misdemeanor in the past three years.

Jazz Festival on Saturday, March 5th

  The Vinton-Shellsburg High School will be host to the 2011 NEIBA Jazz Festival on Saturday, March 5th.  This event will feature 24 High School and Middle School Jazz Bands from all over the Northeast Iowa District.
