Handgun Safety Class being offered

  A new law which went into effect on January 1, 2011 requires the Sheriff of each county to issue a permit to carry weapons to any person 21 years of age or older who is not addicted to alcohol, not likely to use a weapon unlawfully or in such a manner as would endanger the person’s self or others, is not a felon, and has not been convicted of a serious or aggravated misdemeanor in the past three years.

Help for Adults Transitioning to College Life

  Kirkwood Admissions office hosts New Adult Learner Welcome Day, May 4; event designed to dispel myths about returning to college.   Kirkwood Community College will hold a reception for adults who are planning to return to college or start for the first time.

Master Gardeners plan May 14 Extravaganza

       On your shoes or under your fingernails, it is dirt. In a gardener’s hands, it is soil. Iowa gardeners are anxiously awaiting the chance to get their hands into that soil, and the Benton County Master Gardeners are here to help.

Boomtown plans underway

Here is a couple links to watch as Boomtown plans are being made. The event will be held in August this year, a bit earlier than previously held. Dates for the event are August 26-27th.
