Cedar River R.A.T.S. at it Again

   The Cedar River R.A.T.S. are preparing for the 3rd annual Cedar River Clean up on Saturday, August 7th.    This year's route will start at the northern most part of Benton County's 23 miles of Cedar, at the Mt. Auburn boat ramp and will continue down all the way to the Vinton Bridge boat ramp.  Totaling almost 12.

Grazing Annual Forages Field Day

                       Vinton, Iowa – Steve Murty is utilizing annual forages to produce both summer pasture and to re-establish tall grasses into a permanent pasture.  Murty is sharing his experiences as a part of a Leopold Center demonstration project with a field day on July 28.

PEO Chapter MZ to Meet

The PEO Chapter MZ will meet on July 12 ( Please note this is a change from the program book!) at 1:30 p.m. in the home of Pat Floyd, assisted by Dawn Larson. Frieda Davis will be presenting the program. 

GARRISON EMERGENCY SERVICES TO HAVE BARBEQUE/DANCE/CAR CRUISE JULY 10

The Garrison Fire Department will be having its annual barbeque, dance and car cruise on Saturday, July 10.  This event is also the community’s annual celebration. The dance and barbeque will be held at the Hitchin Post under a big-top tent. So rain or shine, all festivities will go on.  The pork barbeque begins at 5:30 p.m. The dance follows from 8:00 p.

July 17th Science Run for Fun Held in Vinton, Iowa!

Vinton, IA—Vinton Area Ministerial Alliance is partnering with AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) team Oak 1 to host “Science Run for Fun” to be held at the Vinton-Shellsburg High School Track on Saturday, July 17, 2010. There will be a ½ mile, 1 mile, and a 5k race making it an event friendly to all ages! Registration opens at 7am and the fun begins at 8am! The goal of “Science Run for Fun” is to promote healthy lifestyle choices and educate children about the functions of the human body.

VU Golf Tournament set for July 16

Vinton golf enthusiasts are invited to the enter the July 16 VU tournament. Party in Park starts tonight with free supper at FSB, Kiddie Parade

After months of planning and many donations of time, effort and money by many in the Vinton area, the annual Party in the Park celebration begins tonight.  First the Farmers Savings Bank Community Appreciation Dinner takes place at 5 p.m. outside the bank. Free hot dogs, pop and chips will be served. The Kiddie Parade begins at 6:30 p.

Parkinson's Support Group to meet at Windsor Manor

The Parkinson's Support Group meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month at Windsor Manor. This month the Virginia Gay therapy department is coming to speak about options and resources for those with Parkinson's and general movement and strengthening tips. Join us for encouragement, support, education, and refreshments.

Vinton Community Blood Drive
