Vikette basketball defeats Raiders 56-52VINTON - The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette varsity basketball team (13-8, 7-5 WaMaC West) took on the Williamsburg Raiders (12-9, 7-5 (WaMaC West) and earned a 56-52 win over the Raiders.Julia Johnson led te Vikettes with 16 points, Alyssa Griffith added 14 points, and Ashlie Meyer added 13 points.

Stormin' Vikings On to State

Stormin' Vikings move on to State Next weekend will bring one more swim meet, as for the third year in a row, the Stormin’ Vikings are on to State.  Swimming in a highly competitive district at Linn-Mar, the team managed to qualify one relay and three individual events.  The 200 Medley Relay of Bradyn Schlief, Carter Kirtz, Ian Allsup, and Logan Zearley qualified for state with a season best time of 1:42.

Vikette basketball loses to Bobcats 52-45VAN HORNE – The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette varsity basketball team took to Benton Community High School in Van Horne to take on the Benton Bobcats and the Bobcats earned 52-45 win over the Vikettes.Alyssa Griffith and Ashlie Meyer each led the Vikettes scoring 12 points, Abby Davis scored eight, Sophia Kreutner scored five and Brylee Bruce and Kalie Burke scored four each.

Viking wrestling advances seven to Districts; most since 1972

MANCHESTER – The Vinton-Shellsburg Viking varsity wrestling team traveled to West Delaware High School and Seedorff Gymnasium for the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Sectional Wrestling Tournament and advanced seven wrestlers to the District Tournament in Maquoketa, which is the most wrestlers to advance to the District Tournament since Don Holmes was the Viking wrestling coach in 1971-72.

Vikette basketball loses to Clippers 64-40VINTON - The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette varsity basketball team (11-6, 5-3 WaMaC West) took on the Clear Creek Amana Clippers inside Garrison Fieldhouse on Jan. 25 and the Clippers defeated the Vikettes 64-40.Sophia Kreutner led the Vikettes with nine points, Alyssa Griffith had seven, Brylee Bruce, Julia Johnson and Ashlie Meyer added six each, Kalie Burke, Peytin Clemensen and Abby Davis added two each.
