"Getting this many kids through is a testiment to our depth as a team," said coach Aric Chvala. "Not many teams can use as many guys and have the success that our kids have had."

Now, says the coach, it's time to concentrate on achieving their best performance of the year at State.

"It is fun to make it state, but it is a lot more fun to come home with a medal around your neck," he said. "We have eight seniors going and it would be great to send them out the way they should."

The VS girls, coached by Heather Kalous, qualified in four events:

100M Dash: Cheyanne Barnes & Shelby Beyer
Long Jump: Erika Hammar
4x100 Relay
4x200 Relay

The relay teams finished first at Districts with their fastest time of the season to qualify for the State meet. Both teams have the same four members: Ashley Boyer, Erika Hammar, Cheyenne Barnes, and Shelby Beyer.

A full schedule of events, including lane assignments, qualifying time, etc. can be found at www.iahsaa.org (boys) and www.ighsau.org (girls).

There will be Pep Assembly at 10:15 Wednesday; the athletes will leave Wednesday evening.
