The Viking boy’s golf team went to Gardner Golf Course in Marion Tuesday to compete against Marion and South Tama. The conditions were the best of the year with little wind and the temperatures were around 68 degrees. The team won the meet shooting 163, Marion was second with 177, and South Tama was third with 193.
Austin Bohnsack won the medalist for the first time in his career with a 39 edging out Daniel Janssen who also shot 39 but was the runner-up medalist due to a card back for the hardest handicapped hole. Tyler Stueck shot 42, and Mike DeLong shot 43 to give the Vikings their winning score. Bryce Shaw and Austin Carolus both shot 45.
The Vikings raise their record to 8-2 for the season and play Independence Thursday and travel to Waverly Saturday for a 12-team tournament.
