The Waverly-Shell Rock and Vinton-Shellsburg football teams and coaches are teaming up in a national effort to fight cancer through the American Cancer Society’s Coaches vs. Cancer program at the home football game on Friday, October 10.
W-SR Coach Mark Hubbard and V-S Coach Jim Womochil hope to bring awareness to the fight against cancer by involving the players and fans at the game this Friday. They are asking fans to wear pink along with their team gear in support of breast cancer awareness. The players, cheerleaders, dance team and marching band will be showing support by adding pink to their uniforms.
Other activities at the game include:
· Cancer Information & Tips – Waverly Health Center will be at the game to provide important cancer facts and how you can prevent or detect the disease.
· Special pre-game performance by the W-SR Dance Team and K through 4th grade dancers.
· Awareness Tattoos & Pink Neon Glow Sticks – Stop by a table at the entrance to get your free breast cancer awareness removable tattoos and low cost pink neon glow sticks from the W-SR Dance Team.
· Special Half-time Activity – the W-SR Band will have a special performance that highlights important cancer awareness facts.
· Pass the Helmet – During half-time, the dance team and cheerleaders will help pass the helmet to collect spare change and donations that will go to the American Cancer Society.
Remember to wear pink when you come to support the Vikings on Friday, October 10.
