Vikette volleyball defeats Knights in round one 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 22-25, 27-25)LA PORTE CITY - The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette varsity volleyball team took on the Union Knights in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) Class 3A Region 8 quarterfinal at Union High School in La Porte City on Oct. 18 and defeated the Knights 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 22-25, 27-25).

Vikette volleyball 1-3 at WaMaC TournamentMOUNT VERNON & MARION - The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette varsity volleyball team (17-17) took to the WaMaC Tournament Pool Play and Bracket Play at Mount Vernon and Marion High Schools in Mount Vernon and Marion.In the first match of pool play the Vikettes defeated the Maquoketa Cardinals 2-1 (10-21, 21-10, 15-10), were defeated by the West Delaware Hawks 2-0 (21-9, 21-11), were defeated in the first match of bracket play by the Marion Wolves 2-1 (18-25, 25-14, 15-4), and were defeated in the finale by the Benton Community Bobcats 2-0 (25-13, 25-14).

VSU Swimming Wins @ Osky

VSU girls swam at Oskaloosa tonight alongside Williamsburg and Keokuk. VSU ended the night on top of the team standings - finishing 38 points ahead of 2nd place Williamsburg. We were short 4 swimmers for various reasons tonight but the remaining 12 made their swims count. There were several very close races that we touched out opponents by just a few tenths of a second.

Viking cross country 16th at the Hawk InvitationalMANCHESTER - The Vinton-Shellsburg Viking varsity cross country team competed at the Hawk Invitational at the Hawk Invitational at Hart Ridge Golf Course in Manchester and got 16th place.Junior Elijah Blix finished 38th with a 17:50, Merritt Bodeker finished 77th, Aldin Swanson finished 80th, Eli Page finished 98th, Reese Truax ran a 20:23 for 116th, Zach Klopping ran a 125th and Max Janssen ran a 22:09 for 140th.
