An old tradition is returning for race fans of The Bullring.What used to be an annual event to kick off the season at Benton County Speedway, the annual car show on the streets of downtown Vinton is making its return.Sponsored and hosted by Ron Da Voo Lounge and Deli, competitors at The Bullring are invited to put their cars on display from noon-4 p.

Viking soccer defeats Bobcats 2-1VAN HORNE – The Vinton-Shellsburg Viking varsity traveled to Van Horne and Benton Community High School to take on the Benton Community Bobcats and earned a 2-1 win over the Bobcats, with the gmae time 1-1 at halftime.Kale Schulte tallied one goal and goalkeeper Brady Ortner tallied 10 saves and gave up one goal for a save percentage of .

Vikette soccer defeats Bobcats 2-0VINTON – The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette varsity soccer team (2-0, 1-0 WaMaC West) took on the Benton Community Bobcats at the Karr Athletic Complex on March 31 and earned a 2-0 win over the Bobcats.Junior striker Abby Davis sallied two goals in one-and-a-half minutes in the second half so the Vikettes won 2-0 at the end of the game, the game was scoreless at halftime.

Vikette soccer defeats Comets 8-0 on Opening Night at the Karr Athletic ComplexVINTON – The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette varsity soccer team took on the West Liberty Comets at the Karr Athletic Complex for Opening Night for the 2022 season on March 29. The Vikettes led 3-0 going into the halftime locker room and erupted for five goals in the second half to win the match 8-0.

Coach Sheston of the Vinton-Shellsburg School District presented and praised the hard work of the Vinton-Shellsburg High School Wrestlers at the Vinton Lions Club meeting. Lions members enjoyed celebrating their accomplishments. State competitors In attendance were Bailey Weeks, placing 4th in State, Rachel Bane, placing 8th in State, Bree Swanson, placing 3rd in State, Curtis Erickson, Brady Ortner, placing 3rd in State, Aldin Swanson, Carter Lamont, Gabe Sanders, placing 1st in State, Cooper Sanders, placing 2nd in State.

Benton County Speedway rolls out the red carpet for opening night of the five-race IMCA Frostbuster Week.The Wednesday, April 6 show at Vinton, sponsored by Michael & Dowd and by Wayne’s Repair, features IMCA Modifieds running for $1,000 to win while IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars chase a $500 top prize. IMCA Northern SportMods run for $400 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $250.

 The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette varsity volleyball program's winningest coach, Michelle Stepanek has resigned after 24 seasons (1994-2007, 2012-21) at the helm of the program. She coached the sophomores in 1992 and 1993.Stepanek coached the Vikettes to the 1999 State Volleyball Tournament and to the 2005, 2007 and 2021 Regional championship matches.

The Shellsburg Area Community Group’s Annual Golf Outing will be held on June 25.  Make plans now to join in the fun at Wildcat Golf Course on Saturday, June 25! SACG will be hosting its 10th annual golf outing on the morning of June 25 at Wildcat Golf Course in Shellsburg. All funds raised will go toward community projects and services in Shellsburg.
