     The Vinton-Shellsburg volleyball team defeated Independence on Tuesday night, but it took them the full five games to win the match. Game scores were:  25-18 23-25 17-25 25-20 15-6      The Vikettes improve their record on the year to 5-1. Their only loss was to Roland Story during the weekend Meskwaki Tournament.

    Before the varsity's overtime win at Benton Community, the V-S sophomores also won, defeating the Bobcats 24-6 in their season opener.
