Viking bowlers rally for win vs. Marion
The varsity boys came from a hundred pin deficit to Marion to come back and beat them by 83 pins after the Baker games on Friday, Jan. 10. This team goes the extra mile all the time and will continue to improve as the season progresses. Great High Games - Cole Garwood 265 and Nick stein 245.
The varsity girls did not fare as well in the standings but they really performed well and continue to improve everyday.

Viking bowling teams continue winning
Jordan Schoettmer, with a high game (226) and high two-game series (399), led the Vinton-Shellsburg bowlers to victory over Independence Friday, in Vinton.
Alyssa Bunge had the high scores for the varsity girls team (172 and 330).
Tyler Rasmussen (187 and 353) led the boys JV team.
"We got off to a slow start for most of the bowlers but they rallied together and were able to excel once again at all levels.

Vikettes at .500; to play for first time in new Independence gym tonight
Four games into the new season, the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes have already doubled their win total from last year.
V-S is 2-2 heading into tonight's game at Independence. A 50-32 win at Wapsie Valley last year was its only victory of the season.
"It's going well, as I thought it would," said coach Deb Schirm. "They worked hard over the summer, the play well together and they are shooting the ball well.
Area bowlers advance to State Family Double Tournament
In October, many youth bowlers along with one of their parents participated in a local competition to advance to the USBC District Family Double competition. Each team of bowlers complete three games of bowling and their bowling score and handicap is added together to reach their total team score. The highest score wins in each age and category.
Vikettes win at Beckman, 64-61, in OT
Three of the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes' first four basketball games have been decided by three points or less. That includes Friday's 64-61 overtime victory at Dyersville Beckman.
The Vikettes were down by four at half-time, and rallied to tie the game late in the fourth. They then outscored Beckman by three in overtime.
Sophomore Maci Griffith led the Vikettes with 23 points.
