Yessak wins Class 1A qualifier; to compete in State Country Meet

Jordan Yessak of Vinton, who runs for the Dunkerton cross country team, won last week's Class 1A state qualifying meet in Cedar Falls. Yessak, a junior, and his team each earned the right to race in this Saturday's State meet in Fort Dodge.

One year milestone: Cross Country teams to paint windows at Ehlinger's Wednesday

A year ago, Mel Davis and her staff welcomed the Vinton-Shellsburg cross country teams to Ehlinger's Express, where the runners were treated to free supper and hot chocolate and painted the windows to celebrate the accomplishment of earning a trip to State.

Congrats to both the girls and boys Vinton-Shellsburg cross country teams on earning a trip to State! The Vikettes Girls placed 2nd overall (they missed 1st place by 2 points).

Nets for Vets: Vikettes to honor veterans with game, dinner Nov. 17

The Vinton-Shellsburg girls basketball team will honor area veterans at a local event on Tuesday, Nov. 17. The "Nets for Vets" will include a game between the Vikettes and Belle Plaine.
