Hogan on Fast Shafts Invitational Ballot again; voting ends Aug. 5

The first round of voting for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational has ended. Two drivers from each of the five regions for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified regions were voted onto the starting grid.

The Vinton Parks and Recreation Department is still taking registrations for Adult CoEd Softball.  The cutoff for registration is Friday, July 29th.

A 7-3 win over Akron-Westfield Friday night made the Lansing Kee High softball team the Class 1 champions. The team is coached by Vinton-Shellsburg graduate Liz Hill, who starred on the diamond for the Vikettes before setting home run records at Mount Mercy.

Down 6-0 at the start of the sixth inning, the Vinton-Shellsburg baseball team rallied for five runs in the top of the sixth, and had runners on base. But with two outs and the go-ahead run at the plate, the Sabers coach replaced their starting pitcher with their undefeated one.
