The Adam Gassman 75 Minute Snatch Challenge

By Vinton Today · July 16th, 2019
By Joe HadechekI have a long relationship with Adam as I recruited him from Western Dubuque High School when he was a young man. He was a great student and very respectful. We reconnected in the fall of 2007 when Union had a math opening and Adam came over from Vinton-Shellsburg. He was one of the first guys we hired on the staff.

Okay, racing could grow on me a little bit. Again I forgot to get earplugs so after 3 hours I had to leave before the final wrap up, hey, give me a break, I'm new at this!As I found the perfect place on the grandstands, I could feel the excitement from the crowd for this final Hogan Memorial. As Bill Martin mentioned in his article, the race set a record with 153 racing teams at the track on Wednesday night.

Scott's parents gave him his start in racing and without them, Scott would have never made it to the track on the first night out.

SACG Golf Tournament and Fundraiser a Success

By Vinton Today · July 1st, 2019
The SACG Golf Tournament and Fundraiser was a success! Thank you to all who supported the 8th Annual Shellsburg Area Community Groups Golf Tournament and Fundraiser on June 22. We are thankful to the many area businesses who purchased hole sponsorships and provided silent auction prizes. Thanks also to the golfers and those who purchased raffle tickets.

Alright, it's official. I loved the demolition derby. I remember vaguely going to the race track once with my dad when I was little, but I think it was only because he had helped to repair one of the cars for a race. I have to admit, I was thinking when it was about to start, "Why in the WORLD are the making the track wet? They canceled last night BECAUSE it was too wet!" Then I realized it was so that the demo-ing didn't actually kill anyone with the traction from a dry track.
