Beverly J. Kenney, 88, passed away Monday, June 9th at the Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab where she had resided the past two years. Beverly was born May 24, 1937, near Brandon, Iowa, the daughter of Lyle and Gertrude (Bailey) Rogers.

On October 8, 1966, she was united in marriage to Gerald "Dean" Kenney at the First Baptist Church in Vinton. Beverly was employed at the Virgina Gay annex in the 1960's, Cutlas Gear, Perfex, Lutheran Home and for several years was co-owner of The Second Image with her sister Patsy Rouse. Beverly was a talented seamstress and during her retirement years she created many beautiful quilts, table runners, wall hangings that her family will cherish. She moved to Windsor Manor Assisted Living in 2018 and her large sewing table, sewing machines, fabric and supplies moved with her, and she continued to turn out her beautiful creations that so many admired.

Beverly was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease August 2011. She immersed herself keeping educated on what she could do to maintain an independent, quality life. We are so thankful that she was able to have a good quality of life until balance issues caused her to have to move the VGNR in July 2023.

Left to cherish Beverly's memory are her sons, Jerry Kenney and John Kenney, daughter-in-law Teresa Floyd, sister Patsy (Don) Rouse. Seven grandchildren, Dessa (Jereomy)Faircloth, Patrick Floyd, Samantha Floyd, Joe (Jessie) Schooley, Shannon Yerkes, Nicole Yerkes, Megan (Dan) Straw. Eleven great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Miley, Maci, Katlyn, Caleb, Rachel (Matthew), Scott, Stephanie, Daniel, Matthew and Kalla. Six great-great grandchildren, Wyatt, Suede, Akira, Oaklynn, Eleanor and Ryder. Brothers & sisters-in-law Dick (Joyce) Kenney and Darrell (Janet) Kenney, sister-in-law Mary Lee Usher, numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Beverly is preceded in death by her husband, Dean Kenney, daughter Barbara Yerkes, sons Steven Floyd and Gordon Floyd. Sister Phyllis Ross, brother Lyle Jr. "Billy" Rogers, son-in-law Scott Yerkes, daughter-in-law Vicki Floyd, brother-in-law Jack Ross and great grandson Tyler Faircloth.

Per Beverly's wishes she was cremated. The family will host a celebration of life luncheon at the Brandon Community Center from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 14th.
