Obituaries : Barbara Jean (Stone) Gustafson

Surrounded by her loving family, Barbara Jean (Stone) Gustafson passed on to Heaven, Sunday, June 8, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following several lengthy illnesses. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 12, at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton, with Pastor Josh Graber officiating. Private burial to follow. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, at the funeral home.
Barbara was born December 5, 1948, in Auburn, NY, the daughter of Windsor and Bertha (Cornelius) Stone. She graduated from high school in Port Byron, NY, Syracuse Beauty School in Syracuse, NY, and Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Watertown, WI. On June 23, 1972, at Second Baptist Church in Auburn, NY, Barbara was united in marriage to the "love of her life", Gary. She then began her most fulfilling career as a Pastor's loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
In her leisure time, Barbara enjoyed to crochet, sing, play piano, read, make people laugh, and spend time with her family.
Left to cherish Barbara's memory are her husband of almost 53 years, Gary of Vinton; children: Michael (Angela) Gustafson of Townsend, MT, Timothy (Rilda) Gustafson of Keystone, Rachael (Ryan) Coon of Cedar Rapids, and Sarah Gustafson of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren: Ava, Zevan, Izak, MacKenna, Zac, and Emeliya; "bonus" family, Brett (Keya), and Sydney; and sister, Beverly (David) Lawson of Pauline, SC.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
