Mardell Johnson, 86, died at home on Saturday, July 1, 2023, surrounded by her husband and children.A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, at First Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, where the family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine. Memorials may be made in Mardell’s name to the Belle Plaine Ambulance or the First Lutherans Women in Mission.

Brittany Lynn Becker, 29, earned her “Angel Wings” Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 11 at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton, with Rev. Brian Channel officiating. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.
Patricia A. "Pat" Heidt, 95, of Independence, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, June 23, 2023, at ABCM Rehabilitation Center in Independence.She was born March 21, 1928, in Waterloo, daughter of Archie and Anna Olson Linde. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1946 and obtained a bachelors degree in education from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI).

Denmen “Denny” Hennings, 88, of Vinton, formerly of Dysart, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023 at the Vinton Lutheran Home. Private family services will be held. Mary Irene Beals, 100, of LaPorte City, Iowa, formerly of Decatur, IL, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at LaPorte Specialty Care in LaPorte City.Mary was born on February 3, 1923, the daughter of Ernest and Pearl (White) Williams in Argenta, Illinois. She grew up in Illinois, later receiving her GED. On January 6, 1947, Mary was united in marriage to John Glen Beals in Decatur, IL.
