Larry LeRoy Rouse, Sr., 81, was lovingly surrounded by family when he passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 following a short illness. Per Larry’s wishes, there will be no services. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.Larry was born July 12, 1942 in Vinton, the son of LaVerne and Luella (Burris) Rouse. He attended school in Vinton.

Connie Sue Pennell, 84, of LaPorte City, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center in Waterloo, following a brave a valiant fight with cancer.Connie was born on November 21, 1938, the daughter of William & Mary Katherine (Gross) Bechthold. The family lived in Waterloo and moved to LaPorte City around 1950.

(Schminke) Hagen, age 87, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, August 14, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall, with Rev. Nick Palmer officiating. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 5:00 PM at the church on Sunday. Russell L. Tollefson Sr.
Russell L. Tollefson Sr., 71, passed away August 7, 2023 at Belle Plaine Specialty Care, Belle Plaine, IA.Russell was born April 28, 1952 to Ernest and Nina (Thorson) Tollefson. He attended Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. Following school, Russ enlisted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam War. Upon his return he moved to Cedar Rapids and worked odd jobs before his career as a truckdriver and later worked for Foster Heating and Cooling.

Richard Paul Novotny, 84, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away Aug. 6, 2023, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo, Iowa.Dick was born Oct. 1, 1938, to Otto and Lottie (Bartacheck) Novotny.As a young adult, Dick joined the U.S. Army, where he was awarded for his many outstanding accomplishments. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 12 to 3:00 p.m. at Riverside Park; round shelter house across from the hospital.
