Surrounded by family, Theron D. Gordon, known to most as “Gordy”, of Newhall, died Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a short illness. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 16 at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home in Vinton with Pastor Brian Channel officiating. Jay Dean Wilson was welcomed into the Wilson family on April 13, 1957. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa, the third of seven Wilson children, and raised by his loving parents, Robert Dean and Mardene (Fisher) Wilson. Jay entered his heavenly home on August 10, 2023, at the family home where he was loved and raised.Visitation for Jay will be on Saturday, August 19, 2023 beginning at 11:00 a. Gerald “Jerry” Laughridge, 63, passed Feb. 3, 2023, with loving family by his side.Jerry was preceded in death by his father and mother (Orville, Arlene); and brothers and sisters (Les, Dale, Jack, Jim, Carol). Ann E. Howell, 67, of Atkins, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, 10:00am, at All Saints Catholic Church. Larry LeRoy Rouse, Sr., 81, was lovingly surrounded by family when he passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 following a short illness. Per Larry’s wishes, there will be no services. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.Larry was born July 12, 1942 in Vinton, the son of LaVerne and Luella (Burris) Rouse. He attended school in Vinton.

Connie Sue Pennell, 84, of LaPorte City, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center in Waterloo, following a brave a valiant fight with cancer.Connie was born on November 21, 1938, the daughter of William & Mary Katherine (Gross) Bechthold. The family lived in Waterloo and moved to LaPorte City around 1950.
