No movie to write about this week…BECAUSE WE’RE CLOSED FOR OUR DIGITAL CINEMA INSTALLATION!
We hit and surpassed the $75K mark last week and I’m confident we’ll hit our $80K goal just in time to write the final check to Sonic Equipment. I’m overwhelmed by your generosity and so proud of the community of Vinton, and beyond! I can’t walk through Fareway without someone stopping me to say, “Hey, I need to write you a check!”
And speaking of Fareway – oh, sure, you can’t find anything these days, but how cool is that! Have you seen the new wall of freezers? One of our volunteers was just reminiscing about the city of Vinton ten years ago – new Fareway, restored Palace Theatre, beautiful city streets, sidewalks and lights installed.
Here we go again! We’re on a roll, Vinton! I see great things in our future!
Not the least of which is $3 3D! The Vinton Palace Theatre is boasting the ONLY $3 3D IN THE WORLD! Even my son Patrick is impressed!
Come out and see us at the PALACE POPCORN ROADSHOW this weekend at Party in the Park. We’ve got popcorn, lemon shakes, and 1,000 freeze pops to sell! And, Gerald will have his laptop under the Roadshow tent, selling tickets for “Shrek Forever After,” the inaugural digital 3D presentation at the Palace.
Purchase your tickets now to insure the seat you want at the show you want. You can buy your tickets online or at the theatre. Purchasing tickets at Kid’s Night on the Court House lawn or at Party in the Park at Riverside Park will be just like purchasing at the theatre – there is a $1 surcharge.
REMEMBER, we’re closed Friday, June 25 through Thursday, July 1 for the digital install.
JULY SCHEDULE
We open Friday, July 2 with “Shrek Forever After.” Look for lots of added matinees and late shows. We’re ready with more than 3,000 pairs of RealD 3D glasses. The staff and volunteers are gearing up for big crowds.
Following Shrek is “The Karate Kid,” “Grown Ups,” “Toy Story 3,” and “Knight and Day.” Check out our schedule online at www.vintonpalace.org, or pick up a calendar with your popcorn and lemon shake at Party in the Park.
NEW PALACE TRIVIA
It’s not too late to donate to the cause! Just over two months ago, projectionist Roger Uthoff made the first donation to our digital cinema fundraising effort. Many patrons have indicated they want us to keep accepting contributions for new seating at the theatre. Make your donations at the Palace, or online using PayPal at www.vintonpalace.org.
Will you be able to say you saw the last 35 mm film at the Palace? Roger Uthoff built “Letters to Juliet,” the final 35 mm film at the Palace, and Dave Morrow is threading the projector on Thursday, June 24 for the last time. If you haven’t seen “Letters to Juliet” you’re missing out! It’s a terrific film. A lovely story set in Verona, Italy, starring Amanda Seyfried and Vanessa Redgrave.
Volunteer Nancy Good purchased the very first ticket for “Shrek Forever After.” Don’t miss out! Get your tickets now for the very first digital 3D presentation at the Palace!
